Paired with my Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8 L lens, a professional-grade lens known for its versatility, sharpness, and ability to perform beautifully in low-light conditions. This lens is a favourite among professional photographers because it delivers consistently high-quality results across a range of scenarios — from intimate portraits to dynamic event shots.
To ensure your photos have that signature professional finish, I also use the Canon EL-5 flash, Canon’s top-of-the-line on-camera flash. This advanced flash gives me clean, balanced lighting without harsh shadows or overexposure — crucial for capturing those candid moments and formal portraits perfectly.
Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop – The Creative Essentials
I rely heavily on Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop, the industry gold standard for photographers worldwide.
Lightroom is where the bulk of my colour correction and lighting adjustments happen. It allows me to balance skin tones, enhance colours, tweak exposure, adjust contrast, and maintain consistency across hundreds of images from an event.
Photoshop comes into play when fine-detail retouching is needed — whether that’s removing distracting background elements, refining skin, or making artistic adjustments that take an image to the next level.
Together, these programs allow me to perfect each image so it not only looks beautiful but also preserves the authenticity of the moment.
Aftershoot – Faster Delivery Without Compromise
Anyone who’s had professional photos done knows there are hundreds, sometimes thousands, of images taken in a single event or session. Sorting through them is time-consuming — but it’s a step that’s crucial to ensure only the best make it to you.
This is where Aftershoot comes in. It’s an AI-powered software designed to speed up the culling and initial editing process. I’ve personally trained Aftershoot to understand my style and preferences — which means it knows how to identify the sharpest smiles, the best family groupings, and the clearest expressions while avoiding blinks or blurry shots.
Beyond culling, Aftershoot can also apply consistent, base-level edits to get images looking good quickly — which I then fine-tune personally in Lightroom and Photoshop. This means faster turnaround times for you without sacrificing quality.
Evoto – The Secret to Flawless Finishing
Even with the best lighting and flash, certain challenges pop up — especially indoors or in low-light environments common in event photography. Glasses glare (flash hotspots reflecting off lenses) and skin hotspots (areas that look shiny or overly reflective) are common issues that can detract from an otherwise perfect image.
This is where Evoto becomes an essential part of my workflow. Evoto is a professional retouching software powered by AI but guided by human control. It allows me to:
- Remove flash glare from glasses without affecting the rest of the image
- Smooth out shiny skin spots caused by lighting
- Perform gentle skin retouching that keeps people looking natural, not over-edited
