Hello,

It's Sam from SB Creatives Photography here....

Last weekend, I had the privilege of photographing the AUJS Cocktail Party 2025, and I can genuinely say it was one of the most memorable events I’ve had the pleasure of being part of. As soon as I walked into the venue, I could feel the energy — a buzz of anticipation, excitement, and joy that built as the night unfolded. It wasn’t just a party. It was a celebration of community, identity, and connection.

Being behind the lens gives you a unique perspective. You're not just witnessing the event — you're immersed in it, observing the moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. A candid laugh between friends, a quiet conversation on the balcony, the sparkle of someone’s outfit as they turn under the lights — these are the things I live for as a photographer. And the AUJS community made my job easy. The authenticity, warmth, and pure good vibes were impossible to miss.

What struck me most was the diversity of moments happening all at once. Some people were reuniting with old friends, others meeting for the first time. There were deep conversations, bursts of laughter, spontaneous dance circles, and everything in between. Photographing these types of events isn’t just about documenting who was there — it’s about capturing how it felt to be there. And this night felt like something special.

AUJS events have a reputation for being well-organized, inclusive, and full of life — and this one exceeded all expectations. The attention to detail in the setup, the thought put into the music and atmosphere, and the clear sense of community values made the night not just visually stunning, but emotionally resonant. It was a space where people could be fully themselves — dressed up, dressed down, loud, quiet, goofy, glamorous — and it all just worked. That kind of environment is rare, and it's a gift to photograph.

As an event photographer, you often get asked, "How do you know when you've captured the right moment?" The answer, for me, is when I feel something through the frame. That could be joy, connection, pride, nostalgia, or just the simple beauty of people being present. At the AUJS Cocktail Party, those moments were everywhere — and I left the night creatively inspired and personally grateful.

A huge thank you to the AUJS team for entrusting me with the responsibility of capturing this incredible night. It was an honor to be a small part of something that clearly meant so much to so many. Events like this remind me why I chose photography in the first place — to tell stories, to preserve emotion, and to celebrate people exactly as they are in a given moment in time.
