Hello,
It's Sam from SB Creatives Photography here.....
This past Pesach, I had the absolute privilege of photographing a retreat like no other – the Sydney Pesach Retreat set along the stunning Hawkesbury River, nestled on a breathtaking 46-acre property. It was an immersive, soul-nourishing experience filled with non-stop ruach, community spirit, and unforgettable moments.
From the moment we arrived, there was a tangible sense of joy in the air. Led by an incredible team right here in Sydney, the retreat brought together families, children, and a crew of enthusiastic Israeli helpers who poured their hearts into every detail. It wasn’t your typical singles-style getaway – this one was all about community, kids, connection, and good old-fashioned Jewish fun.
🎶 Entertainment That Kept the Vibes High
A huge shoutout to DJ Joel, who doubled as the entertainment coordinator and absolutely smashed it! From BBQ-themed nights to wild fire juggling performances under the stars, the evenings were electric. We had trivia nights that tested the sharpest minds, and a chilled-out paint and sip night that brought out everyone's creative side – yes, even the not-so-artistic ones (myself included).
🎤 Concerts to Remember
The highlight for many was the concert night featuring the powerhouse talents of Mordecai Levin and Alex Robinson. Their energy, voices, and melodies brought everyone to their feet and left us with goosebumps. It was magic – the kind of night you just want to bottle up and relive.
🧒🏼 For the Kids (and the Kids at Heart)
Kids were spoiled for choice – daily boat rides on the river, a hilarious magic show, sports courts to enjoy for all ages, and so much more. You could see the wonder in their eyes from morning till night. The property’s natural beauty made it the perfect backdrop for capturing those candid, joyful moments.
🎙️ Meaningful Moments
The retreat also featured a guest speaker with none other than the Israeli Ambassador to Australia – a real highlight that brought depth, reflection, and important dialogue into the mix. The presence of Israeli volunteers added a beautiful layer of connection to Am Yisrael – one that was felt deeply by all who attended.
🍯 Ending with Sweetness – Mimouna Style
As Pesach came to a close, we wrapped things up with a joyful Mimouna celebration – a North African tradition filled with music, sweets, and gratitude. It was the perfect way to end an unforgettable week.
📷 Through My Lens
As the photographer, I had the honour of capturing it all – the ruach, the laughter, the quiet moments by the water, the way people came together like family. This retreat wasn’t just an event, it was a journey – spiritual, emotional, and deeply connected.
L’Shana Haba’ah B’Yerushalayim – Next Year in Jerusalem!
May the spirit of this retreat carry us forward with hope, unity, and purpose.

Until Next Time...
