Hello,
It's Sam from SB Creatives Photography here....
As a photographer, I often find myself in spaces brimming with joy, tradition, and connection. Recently, I had the privilege of capturing a truly special evening: Rose's Havdalah post-Shabbat event with the Chabad Jewish community and her family. The experience was not just about documenting moments but immersing myself in the warmth and spirituality that defined the gathering.
Havdalah, the beautiful ceremony marking the end of Shabbat, is a time of reflection and hope. This event was no exception. Held in a cosy yet vibrant setting, the room was filled with the glow of candlelight, the soft hum of traditional melodies, and the unmistakable scent of besamim (spices) filling the air.
The Chabad community, known for its inclusive and welcoming spirit, was present in full force, bringing an added layer of energy and devotion to the evening. Family members surrounded Rose, creating an intimate yet lively atmosphere that made my role as a photographer feel both significant and deeply rewarding.
From the flickering Havdalah candle casting warm shadows on smiling faces to the joyous clapping and singing during the traditional songs, every moment was a treasure waiting to be preserved.
One particularly touching scene was Rose standing beside her parents, holding the braided candle as everyone joined in the blessing. The unity and love shared in that moment were palpable, and I made sure to capture it in a way that would evoke the same emotions years down the line.
Another highlight was the mingling and laughter that followed. Kids ran around with uncontainable energy, while the adults shared stories and laughter over delicious food. The blending of generations, traditions, and modern joy was a visual feast that kept my camera busy throughout the evening.
Rose’s Havdalah event wasn’t just a family gathering; it was a celebration of Jewish identity, community, and the seamless blend of tradition and modernity. It reminded me of the power of photography to freeze moments that would otherwise pass too quickly.
Being entrusted to document such an occasion is a privilege I never take lightly. It’s about more than just taking pictures—it’s about ensuring that the legacy of connection and celebration lives on, visually preserved for generations to come.
As I packed up my gear at the end of the night, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. Events like these remind me why I chose photography as my profession. They’re not just assignments—they’re opportunities to witness and immortalise the bonds that make life meaningful.
To Rose and her family, thank you for allowing me to be part of such a heartfelt occasion. It was a reminder that in every flicker of a candle, in every heartfelt laugh, there’s a story waiting to be told—and I’m honoured to be the one to tell it.
If you’re planning an event and want it captured with care and creativity, I’d love to help make your memories last a lifetime. Let’s connect!
