This Chanukah season has been truly unforgettable, and one of the highlights was being the photographer for the Central Synagogue Young Adults Chanukah Party. Held on the 5th night of Chanukah, the event brought together a vibrant crowd in a stunning harborside location in Point Piper, with the Sydney skyline as our breathtaking backdrop.

The celebration had a unique Hawaiian and tropical theme, adding a refreshing twist to the traditional holiday vibes. From colorful leis to lively island-inspired decorations, every detail created an atmosphere that was festive, fun, and undeniably warm—even as a cool breeze swept in from the harbor.

At the heart of the celebration stood the tiki menorah, a symbol of light and resilience infused with tropical flair. Watching the menorah glow against the backdrop of the shimmering water was a poignant reminder of the miracles of Chanukah and the beauty of Jewish traditions being celebrated in diverse and creative ways.

The night was complemented by delicious catering from Poke Mix, serving fresh and flavorful sushi and salad dishes that perfectly matched the tropical ambiance. It was a treat to see everyone enjoying good food, great company, and the lively energy of the evening.

As I moved through the crowd with my camera, capturing candid moments, group photos, and the beauty of the setting, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude. Being part of the Jewish community here in Sydney means more than just sharing traditions; it means being part of a collective spirit that celebrates joy, resilience, and connection.

Photographing this event was a privilege, allowing me to freeze moments of laughter, friendship, and light that will be cherished for years to come. It’s events like these that remind me why I love what I do—not just as a photographer but as a proud member of this incredible community.
